My favourite time of the year is almost upon us. Looking forward to my birthday month, a few trips abroad and delicious hot chocolates. Although I do feel conflicted about the temperatures dropping, I’m excited about autumn styling. The return of chunky boots, light layering and cosy knits – what’s not to enjoy?
Play with trends, see what works for your personal style. Three trends I’m looking forward to styling in particular for autumn ’19 are as follows.
Shades of Green
The colour of the season, especially in a pistachio hue is everywhere in different variations. Blazers, dresses, bags, boots – anything you could possibly think of, is available in this season’s hottest colour. It especially looks amazing in a satin material – think skirts, slip dresses and blouses. There’s an ease to this trend as it can be styled in various ways. Add a splash of colour with a hair scarf or scrunchie. For the bolder women, opt for a head-to-toe look, it pairs well with monochrome styling.
If colours aren’t incorporated into your personal style, start slow by dabbling with accessories, shoes or even nails.
One trend I’ve been admiring from afar is the popular belted blazer. In all colour tones, designs and silhouettes. If you haven’t already bought into this trend, stop delaying the inevitable and invest in one. Recently, I’ve been scrolling online to see exactly what colour tones and styles capture my attention. Heading in a playful direction with oversized blazers in pink, lilac, and pistachio. For a sleeker look, an oversized black blazer works for various occasions. I recommend having a look on Nasty Gal, they have some beautiful pieces.
For extra points, style with chain belts as they’re another hit among the fashion crowd.
I’m not complaining that this trend is still going strong. The city can get cold, we need appropriate footwear. Pair chunky trainers with a slip dress or wide pants and a cropped jumper. Effortless, chic and practical – name a better style combination. I’ve been loving this trend so much, that I’ve forgotten about my other shoes. They’ve been feeling unloved all summer. This will change this season as I’ll be adding them back into rotation.
Pair chunky trainers with anklets and frilly socks for a more put together and feminine look.
