Sipping on refreshing frappés in tinted sunglasses
The epitome of summer
Yet the temperatures are beginning to drop
A new season on the horizon
Trading light breezy materials for cosier options
Transitioning smoothly between seasons
We meet again old friend
Welcome to autumn.
As we begin to transition from summer to fall, we need to prep our wardrobes accordingly. One way to do this is to invest in basics that can be worn all year round. I have my go-to navy pleated wide pants that I got from my trip to Dubai. A piece that serves as the foundation for my outfits all year round. Styling varies depending on the season, weather, occasion and sometimes mood.
Short & Tailored
It’s difficult to style when the weather can be so unpredictable. One minute it’s hot, next it’s cold, but not cold enough for a cosy jacket. This is when the short and tailored look comes to the rescue. Pair an oversized or longline blazer with a t-shirt, chunky trainers and shorts. The style of the short depends on the occasion, for a sleek look opt for a tailored version. For a casual evening, cycle shorts work perfectly. When the temperatures drop slightly more, swap the trainers for knee-high boots, add a clutch or mini bag.
All One Colour
This is styling technique is for days you want to look amazing but your mood doesn’t match. Keeping it simple with a pantsuit in a beige or light tone, it looks chic yet effortless. Pair with crisp white trainers, gold dainty jewellery and a bold red lip. If that isn’t typically your style, try option two. Wide leg pants in a light material paired with an oversized jumper, hair down and a small shoulder bag. Both options make it easy to transition between seasons due to the material and colour choices.
Layer It Up
Skip the jacket, you’ll be wrapped up all winter. Instead, reach for a t-shirt or long sleeve top in a neutral tone. That will be the base of the outfit. Then add a flowy dress, I tend to go for wrap dresses as they complement my figure. For a casual look, add trainers, a hair scarf in a similar tone and layered necklaces. Scale the lookup by making simple changes. Swap the trainers for ankle boots, a cross-body bag, low bun and gold accessories. What style tips are you using between seasons?
