Before becoming a mother, thinking of a meaningful gift for Mother’s Day was a struggle. Do I go with her favourite chocolate, something for the house, or treat her to a meal and spa day? Although they’re good choices, they lack depth. The bond between a mother and child is priceless, hence a gift with sentiment behind it would be more valued. I’m sharing three meaningful ideas that truly show how special mothers are, through time and effort.
Photo Album Filled With Memories
Take a trip down memory lane. Turn digital images into a special moment. A photo album is a beautiful way to showcase the many adventures you’ve shared. From the laughter, to the trips abroad to the embarrassing incidents. Share it all in one place. I actually created one as a birthday present for my best friend last month. It was well received, I’ve never seen her happier when opening a meaningful gift.
A Simple Knit Scarf
Now this option took me back to primary school, where I was first taught how to knit. I was kindly gifted the materials by Lovecrafts, the home of all things crafting. It’s a gift that’s made with love and determination. Whether you’re an expert or beginner, you’ll be able to create something beautiful. Especially as Lovecrafts includes a knitting patterns guide, in PDF format, with each order.
Whilst creating the simple scarf, I found knitting to be therapeutic. It’s not surprising, as a 2018 report found many benefits from the hobby. From lowering blood pressure to reducing stress and stimulating the mind. If you need me in the near future, you can find me knitting my stresses away. Soft, cosy and meaningful, what’s not to adore?
An Afternoon Tea Experience
Forget buying a moment, this option is about creating an experience. It all begins in the details. Decorate the dining table for a high tea experience fit for a queen (the title all mothers hold). Begin with a tablecloth with matching napkins, complimentary dinnerware and decorative pieces. Jazz it up with flowers, candles and heart confetti. Once the setting is created, master the menu. Decide if you’re going with a classic or themed afternoon tea. When in doubt, turn to Pinterest for some inspiration and don’t forget to make it spectacular.
