I’m not one to shy away from colours or bold prints. In fact, I thrive on colour. This season I wanted to challenge myself to go bolder with my styling choices. From playing with contrasting prints to tonal dressing and lightweight layering. Spring calls for creativity, vibrancy and a whole lot of fun, especially when it comes to creating outfits. It’s time to ditch the neutral palettes. SS20 calls for pastels and rich tones instead. Discover what spring colour trends I’m loving and need in my wardrobe.
Lavender
Pastels naturally make the selection each season. I’m in awe at how designers create fresh concepts from classic colours. They make the industry excited once again with their playful designs. Easy on the eyes, lavender can be infused into everyday looks. A puff sleeve top, tailored blazer or ruffled dress are all interesting avenues to take with this trend. Typically seen as a more demure and feminine shade, challenge yourself when you’re styling it. Compliment the look with other pastel shades or stand out with bold accessories. Try a yellow handbag, orange boots or a fuchsia belt.
Classic Blue
Otherwise known as Pantone’s colour of the year. A comforting and timeless shade that’s reminiscent of the sky at dusk. As it’s a tone we’re all familiar with, be adventurous with your styling. Turn heads in a head-to-toe ensemble. A power suit, floral print dress or a checked co-ord all work well for this option.
Coral
A beautiful shade that complements this season exceptionally. Refresh your wardrobe with a dusty blush version or something slighter brighter. Either way, you’re making a statement. You can never go wrong with a midi dress. I’ve been loving dresses with side slits, pretty little frills and puff sleeves lately. Great for formal occasions but also works for everyday looks too – such as a graphic t-shirt or co-ord set.
Red
A fiery colour that packs a punch. It works well as outerwear, elevating even the most basic outfit. Depending on your personal style, try a few options. A bomber jacket, trench coat or blazer work exceptionally. A whole vibe, if you do it right.
